Arundel Lido is the only remaining lido in West Sussex; offering outdoor swimming with heated pools in the most picturesque of settings – nestled within the stunning town of Arundel with surrounding views of the South Downs.

Originally opened in 1960, the swimming pool was a popular facility serving all the surrounding towns and villages.

The Lido was closed in 1999 due to lack of funds to modernise the site until The Arun District Council took responsibility for the site in 2002 with a view to restore and refurbish the entire facility.

The main pool was rebuilt and Arundel Lido was re-opened in 2004.

Arundel Lido offers more than just swimming so is sure to be a fantastic day out for the whole family; with extensive grounds of grass, trees and shady areas perfect for picnics, as well as a children’s playboat and Adventure Play Park.

A family-friendly facility; Arundel Lido offer designated rooms for baby change and breastfeeding and also have swim nappies for sale if you get caught short with the little one! (The shop also sells a range of swimming accessories too!)

The Lido also offers a range of hot and cold refreshments and sweet treats, also on occasions the Lido Barbecue is lit to purchase the highest quality hot dogs and burgers!

Planning your visit?  There is a large Pay and Display Car Park alongside the Lido so you don’t have to worry about finding somewhere to park! Bicycles and Motorbikes are not allowed on site but there are designated parking bays and bicycle rails situated in the car park.

Now, let’s talk pools!

The pools at Arundel Lido are heated to a temperature of around 28c in both pools.

The main pool is 25 metres long with lane marking and ropes on request outside of family hours with a maximum depth 1.5m.

All children under 8 must be accompanied by an adult unless they have taken a swimming competency test at the Lido (you can ask a lifeguard for more details on this.)

Non-swimming children must only use the Entry Pool and all children under 3 must wear a swim nappy when in the pool.

The Entry Pool is 5 metres long and has easy entry steps and a link to the main pool and a dept of 1m.

The Children’s Pool is a large paddling pool with beach-style entry into the shallow end with the maximum depth not exceeding 0.65m at the deep end. The Children’s Pool is intended for children under 8 years only. Children must be supervised by an adult at all times.

All of the pools are life-guarded by qualified Lifeguards.

Covid-19 restrictions are now in place at Arundel Lido and all sessions must be pre-booked and pre-paid via the website.

All staff, visitors and customers are to have their temperature taken on arrival and asked to use hand sanitizer on arrival.

Social distancing must be maintained around the site. No ball games are permitted on the grass areas but may be used for picnics.

Contactless payments are preferred for refreshments.

A local gem, Arundel Lido continues to offer a stunning location, well-maintained facilities and safe swimming opportunities for children and their families – with all of the facilities you could possibly need on-site, Arundel Lido promises to be a great day out for the whole family!
